Bangkok - Thailand plans to build four nuclear plants and is seeking the suitable technology to attain its goal, according to science ministry.
Science Minister Wutthipong Chaisang said it was necessary for Thailand to build the nuclear plants as the natural gas was not sufficient to serve the energy demand.
The nuclear fuel would help reduce the country’s power spending threefold according to a study.
Wutthipong last week made an inspection tour to the Kori nuclear plant in Busan, South Korea.
Up to 40% of South Korea’s domestic electricity consumption is currently from its nuclear plants.
The Kori plant is one of South Korea’s four nuclear plants, and South Korea plans to build a new plant on the southeastern coast of the Korean Peninsula.
Worldwide countries tend to build 600 new nuclear plants in the future.
