BANGKOK - Thai Airways will raise its fuel surcharges by up to 90 dollars per passenger on international and domestic flights because of surging global oil prices.
The increase will take effect from June 25 due to the increase in the world jet cost that has increased on a regular basis.
International passengers will have to pay surcharges based on the flight distance ranging from 60 dollars for short hops to 230 dollars for long-haul flights, according to AFP.
The current surcharges are between 45 and 140 dollars.
The surcharge on domestic flights will be 850 baht (25.75 dollars), an increase on the current fee of 750 baht.
Thai Airways has already raised its fuel surcharges this year, imposing increases of between 20 and 35 dollars at the end of April.
In a bid to deal with soaring fuel costs, the carrier also announced last week that was suspending its flights between Bangkok and New York.
The government holds a 54.21 percent stake in Thai Airways .
