Bangkok - The People Power Party (PPP) played a new political game by telling its MPs to withdraw the motion of the charter change from the parliament.
Chumpot Boonyai, PPP MP from Kalasin and leader of the Isarn Pattana group, revealed that 8 MPs in his group agreed to withdraw their signatures to back the referendum.
They cited they would like to see the peaceful society.
Chumpot is one of the MPs supporting the amendments motion, saying the group is waiting for Somsak Kiatsuranont to officially vote on the issue on May 30.
MPs in the Isarn Pattana group include Khon Kaen MP Suchart Srisupon and Ruangdej Suwannaphai, Roi-et MP Sakda Kongphet and Worawong Pansila, party-list MP Asanee Cherdchai, and Nakhon Ratchasima MP Linda Cherdchai.
Party-list MP Chawalit Wichayasuth previously withdrew his signature.
It was reported the number of MPs supporting the amendments motion dropped to about 133 in the afternoon.
Pracharaj party leader Sanoh Thienthong previously the motion would lead to the political encounter, telling his son Sorawong Thienthong, Sakaew MP, to withdraw his signature.
Four Ruamjaithai Chatpattana MPs and ten Senators are consulting whether they should withdraw their signatures.
