Bangkok - Not less than two billion baht are expected to be spent at the THAIFEX 2008. Thailand’s food exports valued over 500,000 million baht last year.
Deputy Commerce Minister Pol Lt Col Banyin Tangpakorn said the THAIFEX 2008 was Asia’s biggest and most important food event.
The food expo is aimed at developing the food industry including food export.
The expo has taken place at the Muang Thong Thani, IMPACT since May 21. It will run until May 25.
More than two billion baht are expected at this five-day event.
Bahrain’s Industry and Commerce Minister brought Bahrain’s leading businessmen to join the event to add value to the food business and extend the trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Thailand’s food exports valued about 500,000 million baht (15,600 million US dollar) in 2007.
The government targets 16,200 million US dollar of food exports this year.
Food exports already reached over 4,500 million US dollars in the first quarter of this year.
1,000 companies have attended this food expo.
