Bangkok - Motorists give cooperation by using accessories when driving following a ban on mobile phone use.
Pol Maj Gen Phanu Kerdlarpphol, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said there was only one violating case.
The ban is effective today. Motorists will get warnings until May 19. Arrests and fines will be applied from May 20 onwards.
Traffic police will be trained about using regular digital cameras and cameras installed on mobile phones. This is to support their work and reduce conflicts with the wrongdoers.
The law also covers bicycles and tuk-tuks running on the public roads.
More closed-circuit TVs will be installed at 71 intersections within June. Closed-circuit TVs are currently installed at 68 points.
