Bangkok - The ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra put off his plan to come back to Thailand on May 2 due to controversial flag pressure.
Thaksin will not be able to attend the opening ceremony of a foundation established by former Thai Rak Thai (TRT) executives.
It is much criticized that Thaksin’s name appeared on Thailand’s national flag.
However, most parties said Thaksin did not involved in such mistake. Thaksin himself said Manchester City fans put his name on the flag because they admired him.
Mr. Pongthep Thepkanchana, one of the former TRT executives and would-be chairman of the foundation, said the foundation was set up for education, sports and public health activities.
Thaksin can’t come back as planned due to business deals. He will come back to Thailand early next week.
