Bangkok, THAILAND - The price of Thai rice jumped 50 percent last month due to international demand. Thai farmers are expected to benefit from the situation.
Other top exporters Vietnam and India imposed limits on exports to ensure domestic supply.
The price hike is believed to help boost Thai economy.
Japan is the only country supporting less rice growing. Its rice price drops as Japanese people turn to consume bread instead.
