Bangkok - The Election Commission (EC) is content with 55.61% turnout, saying there are only thirty complains about election frauds. It will try to finish the certifying process by March 11.

Mr. Prapan Naikowit, EC member, is satisfied with the voting results as about 25 million people exercised their rights on senator voting.

Chiang Mai had more than 70% turnout while over 80% turnout could be seen in some provinces as well.

People who cast no vote accounted for about 6% while more than 3% were void ballots.

The certifying process will be completed by March 11 so as to enable the Senate session.

Highest voting could be seen in Lampun, Singburi and Pattalung respectively while lowest voting in Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Chonburi respectively.

The Senate must approve all legislation passed by the lower house. It also plays a watchdog role with the power to impeach the prime minister and members of cabinet.
