Bangkok - A panel dealing with the palm oil problem agreed to a proposal to import the semi-pure palm oil to cope with the rising palm oil price.
Commerce Minister Mr. Krirkkrai Jirapaet revealed the ministry would ask for the cabinet’s approval for the import next week.
Not more than 30,000 tons of semi-pure palm oil will be imported by February 29 to boost consumers’ confidence.
It was found the nationwide raw palm oil supply was sufficient to serve the consumption and biodiesel production according to Energy Ministry’s policy.
It is possible the palm oil price may have to be floated to be in line with the world palm oil prices.
