RE: Stop Attacking Workers’ Movement!
We, Korean Transport Workers’ Union, were informed that your government has issued summon against the State Railway Workers’ Union in Thailand for a suspicion of violating the act of terrorism. As a member organisation to the International Centre of Labour’s Solidarity, we have very deep concerns on your government taking undemocratic measures to the workers’ movements.
It has been known that the reason the political unrest in your country is not because of people or the labour union leaders who led the strike in the summer 2008, but your country’s politicians and a few of the rich. So, since all people’s natural right to protest against their oppressor is not something to be suppressed by any government. We believe that Thai government’s trying to accuse the suspected as terrorists or something like law breaker and it is not completely tolerable in the international society.
And, as we believe that any further actions by your government against universal democratic rights of people would bring international blames, your government should stop repressing workers’ movements right now.
Thank you
Kim, Jong-In.
