Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – 68.90 percent of Thai people were not confident that the public health ministry could deal with the influenza 2009, according to the Suan Dusit Poll.

1,194 respondents in Bangkok and adjourning provinces were surveyed by the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University on July 14-16.

91.67 percent said the Type A flu situation became more severe.

82.29 percent thought that the influenza 2009 was fearsome because it could spread rapidly and caused several complications such as pneumonia and infections.

Generally speaking, Thais believed the public health ministry could not bring the Type A flu outbreak under control.

74.47 percent of respondents were confident of Thai doctors whereas 38.30 percent had confidence in the government and 31.91 percent in the public health ministry.

In practice, the public health ministry announced that the weekly update on influenza 2009 would take place on every Wednesday.

The ministry has been financially supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) to produce vaccines against such dreadful flu.

The vaccine plant would be opened and research would be conducted at Silpakorn University.

60.32 percent supported such idea, saying things should be carried out as fast as possible.
