Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Information and communication technology ministry will decide whether more postcards to vote for panda cub’s name should be published.
Thailand Post earlier invited Thai people to vote for panda cub’s name to win cash prize and car.
Four names were selected: Lin Ping, Kwan Thai, Thai Jin and Ying Ying.
Thirty million postcards were published and panda cub naming was welcomed well by the public.
ICT will make a decision whether to publish more postcards or not since the deadline for baby panda naming is by August 12.
About 60 million baht of proceeds from postcard sale will be added to the Chiang Mai Zoo’s fund to cover other animals’ expenditures.
A postcard is priced at five baht per unit.
Panda cub was reportedly healthy and weighed 1,270 grams. It is believed that the little panda will be able to see within two weeks.
