Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Thai people tended to eat out more than people in other countries despite the economic crisis, according to Nielson Thailand.
The online survey was conducted to cover consumers in 52 countries worldwide.
31 percent of Thais ate out on Saturday whereas 30 percent on Monday-Thursday.
32 percent said they considered the type of food and 21 percent took price into account when choosing to eat out.
Asia-Pacific consumers ate out more than consumers in other continents. 31 percent of people in Hong Kong used the restaurants’ service every day.
56 percent of European people ate out once a month.
24 percent of Thais ate out once or twice a week while 15 percent said they ate out 3-6 times a week.
54 percent ate out with their family and friends whereas 18 percent with colleagues and 13 percent with lovers.
59 percent said dinner was their favorite meal to eat out while 39 percent lunch and 2 percent breakfast.
57 percent of Thai consumers went for Thai food and 26 percent Japanese food.
Australians and Singaporeans preferred Chinese food to their food whereas people in Hong Kong preferred Japanese food and the United Arab Emirates Indian food.
