Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Most of Thai people put more emphasis on expensive pork prices than the outbreak of swine flu, according to a survey.

55.8 percent of the respondents were afraid that pork prices would go up whereas 44.2 percent concerned more about Mexican flu or swine flu.

ABAC surveyed 1,361 households in 17 provinces including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Kanchanaburi, Ranong and Surat Thani.

The real-time survey was conducted on April 28.

94.1 percent said they knew about the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico while only 5.9 percent said they did not.

14 percent were most worried about the outbreak whereas 37.2 percent were least worried or not worried at all.

37.7 percent were confident of preventive measures in Thailand while 10 percent were least confident or not confident at all.

It seems Thai people are not worried about swine flu much and they have confidence in measures to control such flu spreading.

Nevertheless, 40 percent still concerned about flu spreading from humans to humans.
