Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Gen Prem Tinlasunonda, statesman and chairman of the Privy Council, asked all parties to stop political movements for the sake of the nation.
Gen Prem confirmed he has never been a foe to anyone including fugitive and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
However, he thought that it would be good if Thaksin stopped any movements.
Gen Prem personally believes that Thai people love one another and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will lead the country to get out of the crisis.
He also said that a mediator needed not to be a single person. Rather, the mediator needed to be politically neutral.
Gen Prem insisted that Thailand and Thais were not hopeless.
He nevertheless refused to give any comments on the amnesty law proposed by some politicians.
Presiding over the launching ceremony of a project to promote unity in the south, Gen Prem prayed to the sacred spirit, also known as Phra Siam Devathirat, to protect children in the south as well as Thailand from any bad things.
He also prayed that those who acted against the country would be ill-fortuned.
The so-called sacred spirit is believed to guard Thailand against any devils. This revered spirit is situated at the Grand Palace.
