Bangkok (Manager Online) - The number of Thai people injured by the electric shock and thunder was averagely 11,060 per year. The death toll was 548 per year.
The number of injured people and death toll increased more though many electrical appliances were with high safety technology, according to public health ministry’s spokesman Dr. Supan Srithamma.
It was reported a mobile phone user was injured by thunder in London. Death caused by thunder was also reported in China, South Korea and Malaysia.
The number of people who got injured by electricity rose from 9,128 in 2002 to 12,692 in 2006.
5% were severely injured.
The death toll increased from 493 to 673. The average death toll was 548 per year.
The most risk areas were house, factory and highway respectively.
The injured and dead men outnumbered injured and dead women four to five times.
