Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The cabinet agreed to present the title of “King of Crafts” to HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and the “National Labor Skill Standard Day” will fall on March 2 of each year.
At yesterday’s cabinet meeting, the labour ministry proposed such title should be presented to HM the King.
HM the King was keen on crafts while studying in Switzerland. He invented his own toys such as glider and model warship.
HM the King was very keen on sailing sport.
With excellence in sail design, King Bhumibol won in the sailing competition as part of the fourth Laemthong sport competition in 1967.
On March 2, 1970, HM the King presided over opening ceremony of the first national labor skill competition in India.
Being born in Massachusetts, United States on Monday December 5, 1927, King Bhumibol is the third and youngest child of Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Mahidol of Songkhla.
