Bangkok - Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) last week asked for the energy ministry’s permission to issue ten-billion-baht bonds to raise funds for its Wang Noi plant investment.
Egat planned to issue bonds at the end of 2008 or 2009.
Egat Governor Sombat Sasaticharee said raised funds would be invested in the 750-megawatt Wang Noi plant and power transmission lines.
The company tried to get the energy ministry’s approval for the project before the fourth quarter of this year.
Two billion baht of bonds would be issued in the first lot.
The bid was postponed because the contractors faced expensive construction materials problem.
The Wang Noi plant bid would be called early next year.
About ten leading companies already bade for the project. Some companies also applied to be the underwriters.
