Bangkok - All provinces were assigned to closely watch for the bird flu in humans though the avian flu has not broken out in Thailand for more than two years.
The Laotian government found that the H5N1 virus spread in poultry at a northern village, 150 kilometres from Luang Phrabang.
7,000 poultry in one-kilometre distance were primarily got rid of though there was no infection in humans.
The avian flu has not broken out in Thailand for over two years.
However, the weather condition with humidity would help prolong the avian flu virus’s life.
Public health and agriculture ministries would join to closely watch the avian flu at the Thai-Lao border provinces such as Chiang Rai, Nan, Loei, Nongkhai, Udon Thani, Nakhon Panom and Mukdahan.
34 cases of bird flu in humans were reported in four countries: China, Egypt, Indonesia and Vietnam. 26 people died of the avian flu.
