Bangkok - The government had an idea to build a special prison for the drug-related prisoners so that they could not order drugs from the outside world.
The so-called special prison would be controlled by modern technology.
More than 1,000 prisoners in major drug cases would separately be put in such prison.
Justice Minister Sompong Amornwiwat assigned the policy to nationwide prisons to crack down drugs in prison.
The number of drug-related criminals accounts for 60% of the total prisoners at present.
Drugs orders were still found in some prisons.
The Department of Corrections asked for more food budget for the prisoners due to increasing rice and raw materials prices.
