Bangkok - Pichit Chuenban, leagal adviser of the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, revealed some of the Council for National Security (CNS) members benefited from the ex-premier’s assets seizure.
The Assets Examination Committee (AEC) was said to issue regulations concerning bribes paying to allow it to seized Thaksin’s assets.
Pichit said he suspected it was the CNS’s order to act against the ousted prime minister.
More than 70 billion baht of Thaksin’s assets were seized.
A person who gave clues to the seizure of the assets would get 25% sharing of the seized assets, according to the regulations.
Pichit claimed that the assets should not be seized as Thaksin had it before becoming the premier.
He admitted he talked to Thaksin on the phone, but denied discussing the reason for the then-premier to live in Britain.
Pichit said the former prime minister could either seek the political asylum or live there as an investor.
