Cambodians urged to boycott Thai goods

Bangkok - Short messages were sent on mobile phone to lobby Cambodian people for not buying Thai products.

Maj Salitapong Kaewpila, commander of the scout unit 1201, was ordered to examine a rumor which caused confusion in Aranyaprathet, Sakaew province.

Rumor has it that Cambodian people were encouraged to boycott Thai products in response to the border dispute.

Short messages were sent on mobile phone to called on Cambodians not to purchase Thai goods.

Previously, it was reported Cambodians could be poisoned by Thai people if buying Thai commodities.

Some 4,000 Thai and Cambodian soldiers are on the alert in the mutual border.

A source in Poipet, Cambodia said that he and his friends got the same SMS telling them not to buy Thai goods.

Cambodian Minister of Information and government spokesman Khieu Kanharith also called for withdrawing all soldiers from the disputed border area near the Preah Vihear temple.
