Bangkok - The Plasma RX team represents Thailand to compete in the Robo Cup rescue category of the World RoboCup 2008, and is going to play in the semifinal today.
The World RoboCup 2008 officially took place on July 14 in Suzhou, China. The event will run until July 20.
The Thai team from Chulalongkorn University presents the rescue robots which can operate automatically and be manually-operated.
The Thai team’s robots are with the map building and self-positioning system.
Peplican United team of Japan and ARL team of Iran are worth keeping eye on as they have better robotic systems.
Participating teams are from nine countries.
The 2008 competition is about the model casualty situation which the robots have to rescue survivors or dead people in the remains of the building.
RoboCup is an international robotics competition founded in 1993. Its ultimate goal is to develop autonomous robots which shall win the soccer game against the winner of the most recent World Cup.
