Bangkok - The seven-nation committee is not entitled to manage the 4.6 square metres of overlapping area around the Preah Vihear site, according to the foreign ministry’s department of information.
The overlapping area was in the Thai border according to the cabinet’s resolution in 1962.
Mr. Tharit Jarungwat, director-general of the Department of Information, said the committee was to protect and develop the Preah Vihear only.
Cambodia successfully registered the temple site as the World Heritage site after getting an approval from the UNESCO on July 2.
The temple can be approached from Kantharalak district, Srisaket province.
Pongpol Adireksan, chairman of the Thai World Heritage, previously said he supported the setup of the seven-nation committee as it could help solve the mutual border management problem.
Tharit added that the registration only covers the temple site.
