Bangkok - Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej will pay his first official visit to China next week, according to foreign ministry.
Samak will leave Bangkok for Beijing on next Monday, also planning to head to the southern city of Quanzhou during his four-day visit.
He is set to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao.
"The aim of visit is to introduce himself, strengthen relations and continue cooperation between the two countries," a foreign ministry statement said.
The pan-Asain railway and tourism boosting will be on the agenda.
Samak was previously scheduled to visit China in May but had to put off his trip due to China’s Sichuan earthquake.
The trade between China and Thailand rose 23 percent to 31.1 billion dollars between 2006 and 2007.
The two nations expect to raise the trade volume to to 50 billion dollars by 2010.
