BANGKOK - The protest leaders were branded as "coup makers" a day ahead of their planned march to Government House, according to the government spokesman. Wichienchot Sukchoterat.
Wichienchot said authorities would block the so-called People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) if they tried to move away from the Rajadamnoen road.
"If they seize control of Government House they are either coup makers or traitors," he said in a speech published on a government website.
He also said the Government House could not be seized as it is the symbol of democracy and government.
“There is a coup if they seize it,” he added “and if the coup is not successful, we call them traitors.”
It was reported the police would try not to let that happen.
The PAD has staged its protest since May 25. Pibhop Dhongchai, one of PAD's leaders, said they would proceed with their rally.
"We will go ahead with our plan to march to Government House tomorrow to call on the Samak government to quit and not amend the constitution in favour of Thaksin," Pibhop told AFP.
