Bangkok - High school students bet up to 10,000 baht on football and the number of female gamblers currently rise, according to justice ministry.
Pol Col Yanpol Yangyuen, chief of the DSI’s Information Technology Office, expressed his concern over the Euro 2008 gambling, saying the gamblers tend to be younger.
More women bet on football, especially in the night-shift worker, tourist and student group.
Pol Col Yanpol said the DSI would coordinate with the police in case it got any evidence regarding football gambling.
Pol Lt Gen Atthaporn Suriyalert, Deputy Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, revealed ten gamblers and one bookmaker were arrested on June 12.
The Euro 2008 has kicked off since June 7 and will run until June 29.
430-baht cash was confiscated together with the 1,200-baht gambling list.
