Bangkok - The ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s private lawyer Pichit Chuenban confirmed Thaksin’s legal team did not involve in the court’s bribery scandal.
A politician’s lawyer was said to carry a pastry box filled with two million baht of cash, and handed it to the Supreme Court’s official on June 10.
Pichit said Thaksin’s legal team did not lobby for changing a panel of judges as the court already allowed the defendant to fight the case fairly.
However, he admitted he went to the court on such day to submit Thaksin and his wife’s petitions to the court as ordered.
He added that he absolutely had no idea why the incident was linked to the court’s bribery.
He also said he was confident the fact-finding panel which was set up by the Supreme Court would be able to find out facts.
Asked if the cash was for the official, Pichit said the defendant’s lawyer could coordinate with the official to copy important documents for the case.
He denied all possibilities of bribing the judge to win the case.
