Bangkok - Thai people were worried about work and financial status, according to a survey. Women were more stressful than men.
2,400 people nationwide were interviewed to find measures to help them deal with the mental health problems.
ML Somchai Chakraphand, director general of the Department of Mental Health, revealed up to 47.4% of the sample group was under stress.
They were worried about their work and financial status the most.
Women were more stressful than men, according to the survey. People aged 21-30 years old were under stress the most.
But 91.7% thought they could solve the problems themselves.
Women tended to hurt themselves more than men. People in the north also tended to hurt themselves more than people in other regions.
The Mental Health Department tried to limit the suicide rate to not more than 6.5 in 100,000 people.
The suicide rate was 10 in 100,000 people during the economic crisis in 1998.
