Bangkok - Agriculture Minister Somsak Prissananantakul sent a letter to protest against letting the Saudi Arabian businessmen to invest on doing farming in Thailand.
Somsak yesterday sent his letter to the secretariat of the cabinet.
It was reported the foreign businessmen were keen to see the farming demonstration in Supanburi province.
They planned to invest here and sent the crops back to their country.
The ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra was said to introduce them to invest in Thailand.
Somsak explained that the price of Thai rice would be high if foreigners invested on farms and sent the crops back to their country.
He said such policy is dangerous for the kingdom and affects the country’s culture and way of living.
Nikorn Chamnong, Agriculture Minister’s adviser, the letter was to give details to the cabinet and let it know the agriculture ministry’s standpoint.
