Bangkok - The private and government sector jointly held the Som Tam (green papaya salad) Fair on May 31 to support Thai food and culture.
The fair took place on Kao San Road from 12.00 noon to 11.30 pm. It is aimed at promoting Thai food to become the world kitchen.
The song “Som Tam” composed by HRH Princess Sirindhorn was used to give knowledge about the Som Tam to the general public.
It is also to praise HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s talent worldwide.
More than 30 papaya salad shops joined to hold their booths at this fair. They are famous for their quality, taste and novelty.
The golden mortar worth more than 100,000 baht was offered as the prize for the winner.
Total prizes worth more than 500,000 were given away.
