Bangkok - Nearly all TU freshmen who faced food poisoning can go back home. Only one student has to stay at the hospital for further treatment.
About 30-40 students were sent to Siriraj Hospital while 10 students to Huachiew General Hospital.
The orientation session took place at Thammasat Tha Prachan on May 19.
About 6,000 freshmen and 1,000 senior TU students attended the ceremony till late in the evening.
The university treated all the students with lunch and dinner boxes. It was reported the dinner boxes caused food poisoning.
Some students felt dizzy and vomited at about 8 pm. So, the university staff decided to send all sick students to Siriraj and Huachiew Hospital.
Prof Dr Surapol Nitikraipoj, rector of Thammasat University, revealed the medical team from Thammasat Chalermprakiat Hospital went to keep up with the students’ symptoms at both hospitals.
Most students now can go back home. Only one student has to stay at the Huachiew Hospital for 1-2 more days due to fatigue and congenital disease.
Surapol said the university would be responsible for occurring expenses.
