Bangkok - Burmese people brought their gold to sell at Mae Sot gold shops more and more after Cyclone Nargis.
Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar on May 2, leaving over 70,000 people dead and over 50,000 missing so far.
Help can be reached only for some groups of people as Myanmar is not open to the international countries.
Affected by the cyclone, Burmese people sold their gold to be able to cover their expenses.
The price of gold in Myanmar is normally lower than Thailand’s price.
Upper part of Myanmar is famous for its gold mines and ores. But the Burmese government does not allow people to enter the areas.
It was reported that Burmese people tried to get to the Mandalay and Kachin State to dig gold and jewelry.
The junta government had to send its soldiers to prevent the people from approaching those areas.
