Noppadon: Thailand won’t interfere in Myanmar’s politics

Bangkok - Burmese PM General Thein Sein will officially visit Thailand today, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Noppadon Pattama.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej will discuss the issue of drugs, alien labor, industrial estate setup and Tawai-Laem Chabang deep seaport link with his Burmese counterpart.

Noppadon said Thailand would like to see domocracy happen in Myanmar as soon as possible. But Thailand will not interfere in Myanmar’s politics.

There are 2.2 million Burmese workers in Thailand. 200,000 out of this number are displaced persons.

Government spokesman Pol Lt Gen Wichienchote Sukchotirat said that Gen Thein Sein would arrive in Thailand at 1.30 pm today.

The official welcoming ceremony will take place at the Government House on May 1.

Gen Thein Sein will visit the handwoven and local product center in Chiang Rai province before going back to Myanmar.
