Bangkok - Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee will fly to Japan on March 31 to sign a loan contract with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
Deputy PM and Finance Minister Surapong confirmed he was ready to do his duty on despite involvement in the two-three-digit lottery case.
He is one of the three ministers of the present cabinet who are involved in the lottery case.
The Assets Examination Committee previously sued them for irregularities in the two-three-digit lottery scheme.
Mr. Surapong will represent Thai government to sign the loan contract with the JBIC. The loan is for the construction of the purple line subway project.
He signed an initial agreement with Japan's ambassador to Thailand Hideaki Kobayashi on Thursday.
The 624-million-dollar loan is to expand Bangkok’s subway system.
