Bangkok - Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Siridhorn inaugurated the GASTECH 2008 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC).
HRH Princess Siridhorn honored to inaugurate the energy exhibition and conference, speaking to exhibitors and delegates on the future of Thailand's oil and gas industry.
The GASTECH 2008 has started since March 10. The event will run until March 13.
More than 2,000 participants from 50 countries attend the event.
120 speakers from around the world join to present technical and commercial information. Speakers include delegates from international companies like ExxonMobil, PTT, Shell, etc.
It is the first time for Thailand to host this 23rd GASTECH 2008.
Thailand currently consumes 3,500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. 72% are derived from the Gulf of Thailand and 28% are imported from Myanmar.
There are three natural gas pipelines in the Gulf of Thailand. The natural gas capacity will be increased from 3,000 to 8,000 million cubic feet per day if the construction of the fourth onshore pipeline is completed in 2017.
