Bangkok - Thai flight attendants today lodged a formal complaint against a TV company for airing a salacious soap opera portraying female cabin crew fighting for the affections of a pilot.

Krishnaratn Puranarasamriddhi, vice president of the Thai Airways labour union, said "War of Angels", which has been aired on Channel Five since January 8, ignored all the important safety and customer service work carried out by flight attendants.

"It is exaggerated," he told AFP. "It portrays bad images of our crew and it violates the crew's dignity."

Crews from national carrier Thai Airways and private carrier Bangkok Airlines will submit a letter of protest to Culture Minister Khaisri Sri-aroon asking the TV company Exact to tone down the saucy storylines.

"War of Angels", called "Songkram Nangfah" in Thai, follows the trials and tribulations of a crew of beautiful flight attendants and married pilots, and the various love triangles that ensue.

War of Angels was written by an author whose pen name is Air Kee. She originally posted her story on Pantip website and the story was a hit for a big while.
