LIMA (AFP) - A British tourist missing for 10 days in Peru has been found dead, police said Tuesday, breaking the hearts of frantic family and friends who launched a social media blitz in the hunt for him.
The body of Harry Corder Greaves, 29, was found at the bottom of a deep crevasse in the mountains of Pisac, in the Andean region of Cusco, police told AFP.
Greaves, a furniture maker, arrived in Peru in February to go traveling. On April 7, he began a solo hike through the scenic region of the country's southeast, where he was to spend his birthday on April 9.
Friends expected to see him again on April 10, but never heard from him.
Greaves's family and friends launched a social media campaign, including attempting to raise money to aid the search.
