RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - Brazilian police arrested three people as they attempted to fly a small drone packed with mobile phones into a Sao Paulo area prison, authorities said Friday.
Suspicions were aroused when wardens at the Adriano Marrey II prison in Guarulhos, in metropolitan Sao Paulo, spotted two cars parked outside at dawn Thursday with their lights on.
They called police, who swooped on the cars, discovering the drone, 18 mobile phones, as well as chargers and headphones.
Police intelligence had been aware as of Tuesday of a plot to get phones into the prison, the Globo G1 news website said.
