Gold continues to hike and reaches its new high as the dollar keeps dropping. A new trend of part-time prospectors has caught on in California.

Last month, the gold price hit a new record high of $1,556.40 an ounce. Still, its price keeps fluctuating and tends to go up.

Gold, a soft, shiny and easily molded or shaped metal, is a chemical element symbolizing power, wealth, happiness, perfection, justice, hope, love, and so on, according to wikipedia website.

Gold is one of a few highly sought-after elements, and valuable, precious metal. It is considered the ultimate storer of wealth as well.

More and more people have gone to look for gold in Woods Creek in Jamestown, California. Brent Shock found a piece of quartz with gold, and got his gold nugget while Scott Sprague of Manassas, Virginia, got a flake of gold, according to AFP.

Gold searchers will be prepared in terms of gold mining supplies at Gold Prospecting Adventures. "How To Find Gold" booklets are available for both newcomers and experienced ones.

Gold prospecting, the act of searching for new gold deposits, is a popular outdoor activity in some developed countries. Various methods based on the type of gold deposit and prospector's resources will be used to seek gold.

Hardrock gold deposits are more diverse in mineralogy and geology than placer deposits. Their particles may be too small to see, even with a microscope, according to wikipedia website. Rock hammer and hand lens are commonly used to search for hardrock gold deposits.

A total of 165,000 tonnes of gold have been mined in human history as of 2009.
