Contemporary masterpieces in Toulouse

Invaluable modern and contemporary masterpieces have been displayed at the Abattoirs Museum in Toulouse, south of France, attracting both Western and Eastern art enthusiasts.

Western art, the art created and accepted by Europen countries, dates back to the art of the Ancient Middle East, Ancient Egypt, and the Ancient Aegean civilizations, according to wikipedia website.

Modern art encompasses Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvre, Cubism and Modernism while contemporary art, art produced at the present time or since World War II, is usually exhibited by commercial galleries, private collectors, art museums, or artists themselves.

Various art pieces such as the "Minotaur's body dressed as Harlequin" painted by Picasso, "We 're smoking them out", "Mao's Portrait, "WVZ 190" and "Landscape" are available.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso is the most important artist in the 20th century, influencing other artists both before and after his time. Born in 1881, Picasso died in 1973 after he had created 22,000 works of art in a wide variety sculptures, ceramics, mosaics, stage design and graphic arts (as cited at http://www.picasso.com).

Yan Pei-Ming who was born in 1960 in Shanghai has lived in Dijon, France. Known for his epic-sized portraits of Mao Zedong, he uses big brushes to paint in black and white or red and white. His works mainly focus on Mao Zedong,
Bruce Lee and his father.

Austrian artist Elmar Trenkwalder was born in Weissenbach am Lech (North Tyrol) in 1959. Studying at the Academy for Fine Arts in Vienna, Trenkwalder now lives and works in Innsbruck.

The exhibition has taken place since April 15, 2011, and the museum will be hosting the "Modern and contempory masterpieces" exhibition until August 21, 2011, according to AFP.
