Bangkok (AFP) -Beauty queens yesterday served samples of Thai food dishes at the Foodex food exhibition in Chiba, suburban Tokyo.

Foodex, the annual International Food and Beverage exhibition, has taken placed at Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex. The event will run until March 4, 2011.

A total of 14,700 visitors has been registered, according to the event's organizer Japan Management Association (JMA). The exhibition is open to trade public everyday from 10:00 am-5:00 pm.

The highlights include new products as well as seminars for exhibitors. About 2,400 exhibitors are expected to participate in this event.

Showcased products vary from agricultural, confectionery, organic, whiskey, herbs and spices to frozen food and meat, liqueurs, dietetic, seasonings and condiments goods (as cited at http://www.biztradeshows.com).

Foodex Japan 2011, devoted to the international food and beverage marketplace, gives the opportunity for exhibitors to sign new contacts.

About 80,000 trade professionals are expected to attend Foodex food exhibition to update themselves on latest developments in the food and beverage sector.

Located in the greater Tokyo, Chiba is the capital of Chiba City, according to wikipedia website. It is the most populous zone in the northwestern prefecture.
