Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – The Social Security Office (SSO) decided to add the type A (H1N1) influenza to the coverage list in a bid to curb the new virus spreading.
Employees are entitled to receive free treatment if they are found to develop the type A influenza.
It is recommended that employees see a doctor if having symptoms such as high fever, headache, sore throat, coughing or breathing with difficulty.
In practice, civil servants and visitors at government agencies currently have to take their temperature before entering the buildings.
These people can go home and see a doctor if the temperature is higher than 37.5 degrees celsius.
In this case, it will be not considered as a leave.
The death rate reportedly has risen 50 percent to 66. However, academics disagreed to distribute the oseltamivir medicine to clinics.
It is also feared that dispensing the medicine to patients who are without influenza 2009 will cause drug resistance.
The cabinet already approved 450 million baht of budget to closely watch and prevent the type A influenza.
