Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Homosexuality was more acceptable in the Thai society whereas single parent tended to increase, according to the Mahidol University’s report.
The number of worldwide extended families declined while there was more freedom in choosing one’s own lover.
Close relationships fell and people got married when they were at older age compared to those in the past.
More people became single whereas single women tended to tie knots with foreign men.
The number of children in each family also decreased three times compared to that of the past.
12 percent of Thai households were still poor.
1.3 out of 20 million families were single parent families. Divorce rate related to the form of single parent.
Divorces rose two times, and 100,000 couples got divorced in 2007.
There were four styles of divorce: being abandoned, separated, divorced and widowed.
