Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – 37 percent of Thais were a little worried about the influenza 2009, believing the disease was not much severe whereas 19 percent understood the illness was very severe even though they were slightly worried.

The department of mental health surveyed people at four shopping malls: Robinson Ladprao, Lotus Salaya, Central World Plaza and Zen.

The survey was conducted on June 20-21.

22 percent who were so worried understood the illness was so severe while another 22 percent who knew the disease was not much severe were still worried.

The public health was urged to continually campaign against the influenza 2009, so that the number of patients would be limited.

Respondents said hand gel and face masks should be given away to people. Nationwide Thais should also be updated about this illness.

So far, the number of influenza 2009 patients has reportedly reached 1,054. 1,037 people recovered, and only 17 people were still in the hospital.

There has been no death report yet.
