Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Labor ministry planned to join foreign ministry to send Thai workers to work at the Island of Guam, east of the Philippines.
A joint meeting between the two ministries would be held soon to find measures to extend the Thai labor market to Guam.
According to Mr. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayutthaya, Thai ambassador to Manila, there would be a big project construction at the island.
The United States reportedly had a plan to move its naval base from Okinawa, Japan to Guam.
The minimum wage is up to seven dollars per hour or nearly 240 baht per hour.
It was expected that Thai workers would be considered since they are skilled and hard-working.
Guam is an island in the western Pacific Ocean and one of the five United States territories.
Guam is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands, according to wikipedia website.
In general, it is hot and very humid. Guam’s economy mainly depends on tourism, department of defense installation as well as locally-owned businesses.
