Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – 11 percent of Thai people said the relationship between children and parents was not so good and they thought the relationship tended to be worse.

Mahidol University surveyed 5,100 respondents in the city and rural areas last month.

Although the relationship between children and parents remained fairly okay, 11 percent said the relationship was bad.

14 percent or 2.5 million families revealed that family members did not understand each other.

It was a bit shocking that 24 percent of the sample group thought the relationship between family members was worse compared to relationship tendency two years ago.

The relationship might become aggravated if no preventive measures were sought.

Children strongly disagreed with parents in terms of spending whereas parents were mostly unhappy with the way children chose friends.

It was suggested that family members should do activities together more often. For example, they should have dinner, watch TV, and spend their holiday together.

Parents should also listen to children’s problem and give advices to them. Parents sometimes listened to problems, but that was not the joint problem solving, according to the survey.
