Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) - The food exports would value 720 billion baht if the situation were worse, according to the Food Institute.
Food exports valued 790,000 million baht in 2008.
The figures were a bit lower than estimated because the global financial crisis took place in the last quarter of last year.
Food exports would mainly depend on the world’s economy this year.
Thai food exports would be slightly affected if the global economy grew 2 percent as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast.
Food exports would drop by 4 percent or value 760,000 million baht if world’s economy grew at such rate.
However, the exports would fall 8 percent or value 720,000 million baht if world’s economy grew only 1.2 percent.
