Bangkok - The home building business was expected to value up to 8.5 billion baht this year as consumers wanted to avoid soaring costs in the future.
Mrs. Supitcha Chaipipat, secretary-general of the Home Builder Association, said the home building business benefited from the soaring energy price situation as consumers wanted to avoid rising costs in the future.
The construction material prices as well as the oil prices keep going up at present.
However, consumers who have good financial status and saving discipline tend to invest now to avoid future risk.
The home building growth was about 10%.
It was estimated the home building business would value up to 8,500 million baht this year.
Supitcha admitted some small contractors had to end their businesses as they could not survive the hiking construction costs.
The government was urged to deal with the increasing steel price.
The 2008 home building event will take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) on August 20-24.
