Bangkok - Thailand’s Bangkok was voted the 2008 world’s best city by the United States Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said it was honored that Bangkok won such an award, believing the success was supported by Thai people, entrepreneurs and travel operators.
Bangkok is charming due to its arts and culture and 226-year historical sites, Thai food, natural environment, vendors’ honesty, and colorful night life.
Bangkok was ranked the third last year.
Apirak revealed the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) planned to focus on the eco-tourism soon.
Free bicycle rides will be available in August. This is part of measures to boost tourism in Bangkok.
Travel maps will also be given away.
